Soft-mount machines can be installed on a second floor or higher level, and can be mounted on a wood floor. Solid-mount washers must be mounted on a ground-level cement floor that has earth beneath it (no crawl space) and must be bolted to the cement floor. High-extract washers come in either solid-mount or soft-mount. Solid-mount washers require a cement floor of at least six inches to 24 inches deep depending on the extract speed.
